Construction — After-Hours Work Without Variance

Construction work outside 7 AM–6 PM weekdays generally requires a DOB after-hours variance displayed on site. Weekend work also requires authorization. If DOB finds work after hours without a variance permit, the penalty is $600 for a one- or two-family home and $6,000 for any other building.

1. Photograph the site, permit signage (or absence), and hazard.
2. Capture job number from shed permit if posted.
3. File at 311 under Construction, Scaffold Safety, or General Construction.
4. Mark whether pedestrians are forced into traffic.
