Parking — Expired Muni-Meter Receipt / Missing Receipt

In metered parking zones, a valid Muni-Meter receipt must be displayed face-up on the vehicle's dashboard, visible through the windshield. The displayed expiration time must not have passed. Absence of a receipt, an expired receipt, or an obscured receipt constitutes a violation.

1. Photograph the vehicle, plate, and violation context (signs, hydrant, crosswalk).
2. Note the address and time; parking complaints are location- and time-sensitive.
3. File at portal.311.nyc.gov under Parking, or call 311.
4. Attach your photo; include plate, color, and make if the plate is obscured.
5. Save your Service Request Number to track NYPD Traffic or DOT response.

Parking summons fines typically range from $35–$515 depending on violation type (2026 NYC Traffic Rules schedule). Towing may apply for blocking hydrants, driveways, or bus stops.
