Sidewalk Cafe — Elevated Platform or Non-Permitted Flooring

Open-air sidewalk cafes must be level with the existing sidewalk surface. No platforms, raised flooring, or ground coverings (including rugs, artificial turf, or other materials) are permitted in a sidewalk cafe. All furnishings must be on the sidewalk surface, not elevated. Clarification: flat or flush decking, pavers, interlocking tiles, the normal sidewalk surface, and tree pits or mulch beds are permitted. The words 'wooden platform' or 'raised flooring' alone are not a violation — only cite this rule when a platform shows a visible step-up or trip edge raised above the surrounding sidewalk grade.

1. Photograph the obstruction from sidewalk level showing clear path width.
2. Capture any posted DOT dining license or permit if visible.

4. Describe how pedestrians are forced into the street or bike lane.
