Parking — Blocking a Bus Stop

No vehicle other than an authorized MTA or commuter bus shall stop, stand, or park within a designated bus stop zone. Private vehicles may not use bus stops even briefly except to expeditiously pick up or discharge passengers.

• vehicle forcing an MTA bus to stop in a travel lane to board passengers

1. Photograph the vehicle, plate, and violation context (signs, hydrant, crosswalk).
2. Note the address and time; parking complaints are location- and time-sensitive.
3. File at portal.311.nyc.gov under Parking, or call 311.
4. Attach your photo; include plate, color, and make if the plate is obscured.
5. Save your Service Request Number to track NYPD Traffic or DOT response.

Parking summons fines typically range from $35–$515 depending on violation type (2026 NYC Traffic Rules schedule). Towing may apply for blocking hydrants, driveways, or bus stops.
