When we get it wrong.

Email hello@sidewalksnitch.com with the article and what is wrong. A link and a sentence is enough. You do not need an account, and you do not need to be the subject of the piece.

We read every correction request. We aim to reply within three business days, and to act on a clear factual error within five.

If we got a fact wrong, we fix it and we say so. A corrected article carries a dated correction note at the foot describing what changed. We do not silently edit a published piece — an unmarked fix is indistinguishable from pretending the error never happened.

If a piece is wrong in a way a note cannot repair, we withdraw it and leave a dated withdrawal notice in its place.

Our analysis describes patterns in reports and in public city data. It describes places, not people. We do not publish exact street addresses, and our data does not record who filed any report, so nothing we publish is a statement about an individual person or business.

Photographs are the blurred public versions, and locations are given at hundred-block level. If you believe an image or a passage identifies you anyway, tell us — that is exactly the kind of report this page is for, and we would rather hear it than not.

Our published cluster pieces are assembled automatically from public SidewalkSnitch reports, and a person reviews and approves every one before it is published. Figures are our own calculations and can contain errors present in the underlying data.
